Whoever and whatever your daughter wants to be, her journey begins here.Julie Keller, Head
Welcome to our Senior School virtual tour.
We were looking forward to welcoming many of you to the school for our regular Taster Days earlier this year. Due to the current COVID-19 situation we’re unable to run our regular open events, but we would love to give you a glimpse of what we’re all about with our new video below. Hear Head, Julie Keller, explain our progressive, creative and different approach and see some of the unique facilities. These are just some of the things that make the NGHS Senior School such an exciting place to be.
I see it as my purpose to inspire a community of girls who are going to be leaders of the future.
Julie Keller, Head.
Take a look at the NGHS Senior School.
It’s impossible to describe the unique atmosphere of NGHS. Progressive, creative and different, it’s a place where girls find their voice, develop their individual strengths and gain the academic results to propel them into the exciting futures that await them. Modern, cutting edge and at the forefront of girls’ education, we’re proud to be breaking down barriers and smashing stereotypes.
We are at the forefront of girls’ education. We invest in cutting edge technology, state of the art facilities and innovative learning spaces. We are progressive in our approach to teaching, learning and care.
Experts in how girls become successful academically and personally, we develop not only the highest academic standards, but also the confidence and self-esteem which come from feeling valued as an individual and as a member of a larger community. Equipping the female leaders of the future matters now more than ever and we’re enabling girls to realise their own, unique brilliance.
Creativity is at the heart of NGHS. The quality of our Music, Art, Drama and Design is unparalleled and our girls think creatively in all that they do. From problem solving to team leadership, it’s one of our key values.
Our teachers inspire each and every girl, with a focus on developing the skills, knowledge and character they need for the future. Academic excellence is a given at NGHS. What’s unique is that we also develop character beyond the curriculum
There is nowhere like NGHS. Our unique approach, personalised curriculum and expertise in educating girls is exceptional. We are modern, exciting, full of fun and our girls leave us with outstanding results, confidence and resilience.
We focus not only on what is learned but how it is learned. Ensuring our girls are confident and fearless, determined to show what they can do. Nothing holds our girls back. They’re encouraged to embrace every role and subject. As a result, they know what unique strengths they bring to the world, trust their own abilities and embrace every opportunity.
I am so proud of the fact that we’re at the cutting edge.Julie Keller, Head
“At GDST schools, girls learn to be confident, happy and fearless with the belief there is no limit to what they can achieve.”
Cheryl Giovannoni, Chief Executive, GDST
Part of a unique family of 25 girls’ schools, we are delivering a new style of education. One that inspires every girl and ensures she learns without limits. With the support of over 70,000 inspirational role models in our alumnae community, and the country’s leading experts in education, care, careers and self-development, we couldn’t be prouder to be part of the GDST family.
Rated excellent by the Independent Schools Inspectorate, our academic provision ensures that girls achieve outstanding exam results. We teach in the way we know girls learn most effectively. Deep learning, collaboration and curiosity are the keys to success. We also take away the boundaries that can inhibit girls’ learning in our specialist, expert environment.
With clubs, societies, bands, and groups spanning BAME Society to Rock Band, every NGHS girl can find and follow her passions. Our girls lead charity projects, sustainability ventures and share their skills with local partner schools. We’re proud of their commitment to a range of wider community issues and their social citizenship. It’s no wonder we were rated as excellent for personal development by the Independent Schools Inspectorate.
We know each member of the NGHS community, and every member of staff is committed to caring for our girls. Our school nurse is the former Assistant Director of Nursing at Great Ormond Street Hospital. The Pastoral Team deliver lessons and support across a range of important topics from online safety to racial equality and self-identity.
We also run an extensive series of Parental Seminars because we know that each girl is supported as part of a team - the school, parent and the young person themselves.
Learning in Lockdown
Fortunately, we are used to a changing world and our girls are too. Qualities we nurture, including creativity, passion, resilience and determination, have helped them to thrive during lockdown. Whether in our mini-school for children of key workers, through our guided home learning programme, or even taking part in the GDST debating tournament and Inspirational Change Makers event , our education has been exceptional. We have provided face to face lessons using Google technology and delivered our own bridging courses to A Level for our Year 11 girls, along with the Limitless Learning programme offered by the GDST for Year 11 girls preparing for A Levels and for Year 13 girls preparing for university.
